Overview

Beyond Boundaries is a non-profit based in Richmond, Virginia, specializing in guiding participants with disabilities, veterans, underserved populations, and recovery programs on outdoor adventures. In partnering with Beyond Boundaries we wanted to make sure we captured the sense of community, adventure, and inclusivity in the branding.

Out-of-Home Advertising

The RVA R.I.M.B.Y. Festival (Right In My BackYard) is a free outdoor celebration that highlights all of the unique outdoor adventures available in Richmond. More than just a festival, it helps make outdoor recreation accessible to everyone—supporting individuals with disabilities, underserved youth, veterans, and recovery programs.

For this billboard, my design goals were to create something bold, clear, and inclusive that could quickly catch attention from drivers while reflecting the spirit of accessibility and adventure.

Impact Report

Tasked with designing he Beyond Boundaries Impact Report, I wanted to showcase their mission of making outdoor adventure accessible to people of all abilities and backgrounds. Beyond Boundaries believes that the more we adventure together, the stronger our community becomes—and I wanted the report to reflect that inclusive spirit. Through clean layouts, bold visuals, and storytelling-driven design, the report highlights the organization’s accomplishments and the meaningful impact of their programs.

Website Icons

Designed a custom set of icons for the Beyond Boundaries website to visually represent their programs and values in a clear, accessible way. Each icon was created with simplicity and consistency in mind—using clean lines, balanced shapes, and a cohesive style that aligns with the brand’s adventurous yet welcoming identity. The icons not only improve navigation and user experience but also reinforce the organization’s mission by making their offerings feel approachable and inclusive.

Brand Guidelines

Beyond Boundaries’ Brand Guidelines bring unity to their identity through thoughtful use of typography, color, and imagery that reflect inclusivity and adventure. These standards provide consistency across print, digital, and community outreach, building a recognizable presence that strengthens their mission and impact.

Reflection

Collaborating with Beyond Boundaries was an incredibly rewarding experience as a graphic designer. Their mission, to guide participants with disabilities, veterans, underserved populations, and recovery programs on outdoor adventures, inspired me to create branding that reflects community, adventure, and inclusivity. Working with Beyond Boundaries pushed me out of my comfort zone and allowed me to learn firsthand about their work in the field, including becoming belay certified to better understand their programs. Gaining this hands-on perspective strengthened my ability to translate their mission into thoughtful, empathetic, and engaging visual design.
